And without faith it
is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe
that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him. Hebrews 11:6 (ESV)
In this
verse we learn that we cannot please God unless we have faith and believe that
He exists and that He rewards those who seek after Him. He wants us to draw
near to Him and have faith that He will provide all we need in this life to
live a life of Godliness (2 Peter 1:3). In Jeremiah 29 He promises us that He
will be found when we seek Him with all our heart. He doesn’t say with just
half of your heart or a quarter of it, but ALL OF IT. For faith is the
assurance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen (Heb. 11:1),
and without us believing daily that He is our only hope and trusting Him even
when we don’t know the outcome, we cannot please Him.
In my life I struggle with drawing near to Him
daily. I so often put other things and desires in front of my desire to seek
after the Lord and learn more about Him through reading and praying. I have
faith that He is good and that He provides, but I haven’t always put 100% of my
heart into seeking after Him.
I desire with all my heart to know God on a
deeper level and fall in love with Him even more. I need to be more disciplined
in how I use my time and in how I think. My time could very much of the time be
used studying His word and getting to know Him and memorizing scripture. And my
mind needs to always be focused on His goodness and things that come from God.
(Phil. 4:8). Without these things it is almost impossible to get to know Him on
a deeper level. I need to have faith in His promise that He blesses those whom
seek after Him with all their heart.
The first step I need to take is to take this
time of three months that we have here in Guatemala more seriously and ask God
to continually speak to me through it all. For God to be able to speak to me I
need to set some time aside during my devotions for Him to speak to me. For I
know He has so much in store for me to learn about Him and I expect Him to do
great things, if I were to DAILY give Him 100% of my heart. As an
accountability partner I will ask Danyel, as my prayer partner, to keep me on
track.
