Beginning of Wisdom

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!                                                                         Psalm 111:10

The fear of the Lord is not a fear in which it means to be afraid or terrified of the Lord. But to have respect for the Lord and to know and realize how big He is. Knowing and accepting that God is so magnificent and we are so very small and insignificant. And to begin to understand that is to begin to have wisdom. And those who live in such a way as this, knowing that God has chosen us even with our insignificance and that He died for us and can take our lives at any second; living in such a way and practicing that wisdom will bring good understanding to life. In Hebrews 12 it says “Let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.” If we truly grasp how awe inspiring our God is we will begin to fear Him and respect all that He can do and has done for us. For His ways and His thoughts are higher than ours. And for me personally, knowing that brings complete respect and awe of my savior.

For His praise endures forever!! Not just for a little while or long time, but forever. Forever we will be praising our King in heaven and seeing Him face to face. To have a God that has become so personal and intimate with each of His people is also awe inspiring. The creator of the universe wanting to be our friend and father. I mean how could that not inspire us to be in awe of such an amazing God?!?

With that being said, my application for this will be to truly ask the Holy Spirit to show me how big and awe inspiring He really is! And to accept the fact that I’m so small and insignificant.  Yet He loves me and wants a relationship with me.
