Our High Priest

For it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens.
                                                            Hebrews 7:26
Jesus Christ, the holy, perfect, innocent, and humble king of mine. He is our high priest, the one whom bridged the gap between us and God for eternity. The only one who could be sacrificed and given as a perfect payment for our sins. People lived day by day sacrificing animals and trying to obtain a way to God by giving the priest an animal to sacrifice for their family. They would have to continually sacrifice animals and shed their blood to pay for their sins, then Jesus came in and changed everything. He lived a sinless and innocent life, free of evil and mistakes, fully man and fully God. He is the only man that has ever lived that is able to pay for our sins, for when He died on the cross He said “It is finished.” That doesn't mean that we still have to sacrifice animals or strive to obtain our salvation, He once and for all tasted death for us all by the grace of God (Hebrews 2:8-9). Jesus lived the life we should have lived and died the death we should have died. Because of our sin God’s wrath needed to be nullified and paid for, either by our lives or the life of Jesus. And God loves us so much that He sent Jesus as a way to make it able for us to spend eternity with Him in heaven rather than in Hell separated from Him for eternity. When Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead He finished the work that we would have never been able to do ourselves. If we put our trust in Him then we will be looked upon just as righteous as Jesus. God’s wrath upon sin rested on the shoulders of Jesus and was poured out onto His body once and for all at that moment. Therefore when I put my trust in Jesus I see what Jesus went through for me and the only emotion in my heart should be to run the race He has set before me enduring for His glory. Knowing that He is faithful and forever worthy of our lives and praise. He died for me, now I will live for Him. In His death I live and have my being.

Application- rest on His finished work upon the cross.
