Let us hold fast the
confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And
let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not
neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one
another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
Hebrews
10:23-25
The writer of Hebrews is
telling us here to hold fast to our hope that we have, the hope that Jesus
Christ has given us. The hope of eternal life with Him and an inheritance like
no other. For God has promised that to us and He always follows through with
His promises and is continually faithful. Even when we are faithless, He
remains faithful. He may not fulfill His promise in the way we expect Him to or
want Him to, but He will none the less fulfill it to the utmost. And as we hold
onto that hope we must consider how to encourage those around us, not
encouraging them in works of evil, but in love and good works. Stirring up one
another to draw closer to the Lord and seek after what He wants. God has given
us fellowship so that we might be encouraged and encourage others in relation
with Jesus Christ and His works. Without fellowship we will have no one to
encourage us and spur us on towards Christ, which is why as Christians we must
be involved with the local fellowship of believers. It is very difficult to
grow in the Lord when you are all by yourself. Continuing to meet together as
the body of Christ and fulfilling our duty as Christians, encouraging our
brothers and sisters in the Lord.
Application- seek to please the Lord in the way I encourage
