Fullness of Joy

As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness; when I awake I shall be satisfied with your likeness.

                                                            Psalm 17:15

In the whole chapter of Psalm 17 we hear David praying to God to “hide me in the shadow of your wings” because the wicked are surrounding him and seek to destroy him. And how these people are trying to be satisfied in this life and filling themselves with treasure. But in the last verse, verse 15, he says “As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness…” Setting himself apart from the other people and professing to the Lord that he will seek out His face and mentioning our reward in heaven as we will see Jesus face to face in all His glory. And as he goes on he says “when I awake I shall be satisfied with your likeness.” The whole theme of this week has been contentment and for me to find contentment I need to realize that I will only ever be satisfied with Jesus. Because as we’ve learned this week, He will never change and He will never forsake us. Therefore He will never let us down, so He is the only one that we could possibly ever be satisfied in. I have been thinking a lot about heaven this week and how heaven is our treasure and just blown away by the fact that I will spend eternity in heaven with Jesus, beholding His face in righteousness! Think about that, in His full glory! Not just a glance anymore. And even with that knowledge I should be satisfied. I love the last verse in chapter 16 as well. And I think it goes along with these verses pretty well. It says “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” He has given us the opportunity to attain the fullness of joy. He created us in such a way that we would only be truly satisfied with a relationship with Him and being in His presence bringing us joy. It just overwhelms and makes me rejoice to know that He has given us that promise and opportunity to have fullness of joy! And to be fully satisfied and content with Him.

Application- memorize Psalm 16:11
