In Christ Alone

He entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves, but by means of His own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.
                                                            Hebrews 9:12
Jesus has entered in the holy place by means of His own blood. Not by the sacrifice of goats or calves, sacrificing animals to enter in to a place of communion with God. But Jesus did it by means of His own blood. Because of the blood that He has shed on the cross He has made it possible for us to enter into this holy place as well, having communion with God. Jesus Christ is the perfect holy priest, mediator, and bridge between us and God. He has made it possible for us to spend an eternity with Him. Without the shedding of His blood on the cross there would be no way we could spend eternity with God in heaven. For the shedding of animals blood is not good enough, goats and calves are not a perfect sacrifice, they are flawed and imperfect. But Jesus Christ lived a perfect and sinless life, making Him the only perfect sacrifice ever capable of bridging the gap between us and God. Without Jesus doing this we would be eternally desperate and desolate people without a way to get to God. God knew this and sent His son Jesus to this earth to live a perfect life and die on the cross for our sins. That was Jesus’ mission and purpose from His birth, to live a perfect life and then be the perfect sacrifice for our sins. We no longer need to sacrifice animals and shed their blood, we must look at what Jesus has done for us and trust in that finished work. He has finished the work forever and sealed our inheritance of heaven. When we put our trust in His finished work our name is written in the Book of Life, which secures our promise of eternal life and redemption with Him. I hold onto His promise of heaven because of what He has done on the cross, He is forever faithful to His promise. It is finished.

Application- hold onto His promise of eternal life. Not on the promises of this world.
